History of Edinburgh

In the seventh century, the English invaded it and named it Eiden's Burgh, where Burgh referes to a fort. A few years later, the Scots got their land bank and then built a castle. The English again began to push their way into the lands of the Socttish, but the Scot leaders resisted in a good way. The Battle of Bannockburn was fought in 1314, when the English were defeated ad Scots remained free for over 400 years. In 1707, Scotland had to become a part of the United Kingdom under pressure, but it had its own church policies as well as legal systems. The new parliament was constituted in Edinburgh in 1999.
