1. Bait Al Zubair, Muscat
Bait Al-Zubair is a private museum in old Muscat city and contains relics from Oman’s military, social, and cultural past. It opened its doors to the public in 1998 and was founded and funded by the Zubair family. The family’s extensive collection of Omani artifacts, such as weapons, khanjars, jewelry, household items, and costumes, is considered the finest privately owned collection that offers an insight into Arab and Omani heritage.
2. Museum of the Land of Frankincense, Salalah
Immerse yourself in the Omani culture and history by visiting the UNESCO heritage site, Museum of the Frankincense Land! This museum is part of the Al Baleed Archaeological Park. The displays are beautifully presented and takes you back to the origins of Frankincense discovery in Oman. Interesting and educational, it is recommended for all history buffs!
3. Sur Maritime Museum, Sur
The city of Sur is well-known for upholding its rich maritime heritage as a contributing factor to the significant Omani roles played during the maritime navigation in the past years. As a means of passing on these historical incidents from generation to generation, the Maritime Museum was built in Wilayat and stands strong till date.
4. Amouage Perfumery, Muscat
At Amouage Perfumery and Visitor Centre in Muscat, you’ll get a chance to witness how this world-famous company creates their amazing fragrances from scratch. Starting from obtaining ingredients from their in-house facilities to distilling, filtering and packaging, this tour will give you a close-up look at everything that goes behind producing Amouage’s signature products. The factory tour is free and quite informative. After the tour, you’ll also get to visit the Amouage factory’s own shop that allows you to sample their large range under one roof and even get to purchase some Amouage Perfumes.
